Celebrities… I have my favorite actors, authors, news hosts, political pundits, scientists. I follow some on social media. There’s ones that I actual reach out to as well and I have been fortunate enough to meet in real life. I try not to get all ‘fan girl’ when I have met them, I did say TRY. I remember that they are just people. People with passion that are lucky enough to make money from said passion. That’s something to be envious of, really. That can be said for countless others in the world. People that daydreamed about being a doctor and they worked hard for it and became the best in their field. What about the astronomer that would lay in the grass and look up at the night sky as a child and now is now on the Science Channel?
Here’s my list of favorite ‘celebrities’ that I have met (in no particular order)
Grant Wilson (he’s the sweetest)
Greg Gutfeld (love his satire)
R.L. Stine (I did a little fangirling when I met him)
Jonathan Frakes (Comm. Riker from Star Trek; met at Indy Comic-Con)
LaVar Burton (Lt. Comm LaForge from Star Trek; met at Indy PopCon)
Wil Wheaton (actor–The Big Ban Theory, Stand By Me, Star Trek; met at Indy PopCon)
Peter David (author of the first Star Trek I ever read, Imzadi; met at Indy Comic-Con)
Michelle Thaller (Scientist; I sent her a FB message and she responded and yes, I did squeal)
Alton Brown (Chef)
Seth Shostak (Director of SETI; sent him an email and he responded)
Janell Cannon (author of Stellaluna; she spoke with my daughter and is super kind)

As you can tell, my tastes are varied. But, the overall theme is this, with the exception of those in the political world, they have their views, but they keep them out of the news for the most part. They do good in the world without screaming it from the rooftops.
